Boarding Primary Services

Boarding Primary Services allow you to create flexible boarding service types with their own pricing structure, independent of the assigned run. This is especially useful for facilities that offer different boarding packages, luxury accommodations, training stays, or multi-pet discounts while still using runs strictly for housing assignments. By separating pricing from the run itself, you can simplify pricing management and create more customizable boarding options for your customers.

Enabling Boarding Primary Services

1. Navigate to Setup > System Options.
2. Click the Global tab.
3. Check the box labeled Enable Advanced Services.
4. Click Save Settings.

 

Creating a Boarding Primary Service

Navigate to Setup > Lists > Boarding Primary Services.

 

1. Click Add New Item.
2. Enter the Charge Name and Description.
3. Assign a Category, if desired.
4. Enter the service Cost.
5. Select whether the service should be Taxed.
6. Enable Commissions, if applicable.

💡 QUICK TIP: Categories allow you to group services into their own totals on the Sales Report. To create a new category, navigate to Setup > Inventory > Categories.

Configuring Multi-Pet Discounts

At the bottom of the service setup page, you can configure discounted pricing for the 2nd through 5th pet.

Choose either:

• A Dollar Reduction
• A Percentage Reduction

For example:

• 1st Pet: $85.00
• 2nd Pet: $80.00 ($5 reduction)
• 3rd–5th Pet: $75.00 ($10 reduction)

📝 NOTE: Multi-pet discounts are configured individually for each Boarding Primary Service, allowing different service types to have their own pricing structure.

Using Boarding Primary Services

When creating a Boarding appointment, you'll now select a Primary Service for each pet.

Once selected, Kennel Connection automatically loads the price associated with that service.

🚨 IMPORTANT NOTE: After enabling Boarding Primary Services, the Primary Service determines the boarding price—not the assigned run, although the run can still be assigned.

 

The invoice will display the selected Boarding Primary Service and its associated pricing.
