Preventing Multiple Pets from Being Assigned to the Same Run
When assigning pets to runs, Kennel Connection helps prevent accidental double-booking by notifying you if a run is already occupied. If a conflict is detected, the software will prompt you to select another available run.
This feature is designed to help prevent accidental run assignments, but it does not enforce a maximum occupancy limit for each run.
Assigning a Pet to a Run
When assigning a run to a Boarding appointment:
- If the selected run is already occupied, Kennel Connection will notify you and attempt to find another available run.
- You can then choose the suggested run or select a different one manually.

💡 QUICK TIP: As a visual reminder, you can include the run's capacity directly in the run name.
For example:
Suite 1 (4 dogs max)
This makes the maximum occupancy visible whenever staff select a run.
🚨IMPORTANT NOTE: Adding the capacity to the run name is for reference only. Kennel Connection does not automatically prevent users from assigning more pets than the stated maximum. Staff are responsible for reviewing the run name and ensuring occupancy limits are not exceeded.
Common Use Cases
- Preventing accidental double-booking of occupied runs.
- Displaying the intended capacity for each run.
- Helping staff quickly identify appropriate housing for incoming pets.
- Providing a visual reminder of occupancy limits when assigning runs.
