Multi-Loc Setting OLR max occupancy for Boarding

3 min. readlast update: 05.29.2026

If your facility does not assign specific runs to boarding appointments, Boarding Max Limits allow you to control overall capacity by setting a maximum number of dogs and cats that can be booked at one time. These settings help prevent overbooking while still giving you flexibility in how appointments are accepted through Online Reservations. Additional options let you determine how departures affect availability, whether bookings can span full days, and how over-capacity reservation requests are handled.

Settings must be added for each location.

Important Note: Max Limits Are Only Available When Runs Are Not Required

These settings are only available if your facility does not require run assignments. If Require Run Numbers is enabled, boarding capacity is managed through run availability instead.

To set your options for Boarding Online Reservations, click on Setup, System Options, Boarding tab.

Pets leaving before X time don’t count toward daily maximum – This setting is so you can count pets leaving before a certain time as an open appointment.  You’ll want to use this option if pets check out early enough for you to prepare for another pet arriving.  For example, let’s say you put 2pm here.  That means any pet on the schedule who has an out time of 2pm or earlier will be counted as an opening on the schedule and OLR will allow an appointment to be booked.  But pets checking out after 2pm are included in your appointment count that make up your Max limit.

Allow new bookings to cross full days if they start on an available day – This setting give you the option to allow appointments to be submitted even if the days are already at the max limit, if the first day is not at the max limit.  For example, say your max limit is 20 dogs and you already have 20 dogs booked for January 5th and January 6th.  This setting will let an appointment be booked for January 4th – January 6th because January 4th is not at the max limit.

Send to pending on overbooking – If you check this option, OLR will allow an unlimited number of pending appointments to be submitted even if you are already at the max limit.  You will be able to approve whichever appointments needed and will be able to go over your limit.  Please note there is no option to put a limit on how many pending appointments are submitted.

If you leave this option unchecked, your client will receive a message that you are fully booked for these dates and they will be unable to submit an appointment for the dates when you are at the max limit.
