Taking a Screenshot for Support

2 min. readlast update: 06.11.2025

If support requests you to provide them a screenshot, there are multiple tools available.

For Windows computers:

🖱️ 1. Entire Screen – Quick Save

Press: Windows Key + Print Screen (PrtScn)
Result: Captures the whole screen and automatically saves it to:

Pictures > Screenshots

🛠️ 2. Snipping Tool (Manual Open)

Search in Start Menu: “Snipping Tool”
Use for delayed snips, annotations, or different snip types.

🧭 Step-by-Step Guide: Freeform Snip with Snipping Tool → Clipboard → Email

🔹 1. Open Snipping Tool

  • Click the Start button (Windows icon) or press the Windows key

  • Type Snipping Tool and press Enter

🔹 2. Set Snip Mode to Freeform

  • In Snipping Tool, click the Mode or New dropdown (depending on Windows version)

  • Select Free-form Snip

🔹 3. Take the Screenshot

  • Your screen will dim slightly

  • Use your mouse or stylus to draw the shape you want to capture

🔹 4. Copy to Clipboard

  • After you take the snip, it will open in the Snipping Tool editor

  • Click the Copy icon (two overlapping squares), or press Ctrl + C

🔹 5. Paste into Email

  • Open your email program (e.g., Outlook, Gmail in browser)

  • Create or open a new message

  • Click in the body of the email

  • Press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot

✅ Tips

  • If you're using Snip & Sketch instead of Snipping Tool, the steps are nearly the same—just select Freeform Snip after pressing Windows + Shift + S.

  • If the screenshot doesn't paste, ensure the app you're pasting into supports images in the message body.
