Training Module & Packages

7 min. readlast update: 10.02.2026

The Training module provides a centralized way to manage resident training, one-on-one sessions, and group classes from scheduling through invoicing. Its flexible setup options allow facilities to control available training services, pricing, boarding charges, run assignments, class capacity, instructors, recurring dates, and package rules. By linking appointments, packages, and invoices in one workflow, the module helps staff book services more efficiently, apply charges consistently, reduce scheduling and billing errors, and offer clients convenient training options tailored to their pets’ needs.

Training types

There are three types of training.

Resident training – These pets stay at your facility for a date range and receive both Boarding and Training services.

One-on-One training - This is when the pet will be coming in for a private session with the trainer.  You can schedule recurring One-on-One appointments if needed.

Classes - This is when you want to train a group of pets together.  You can have classes such as Puppy Kindergarten or Advanced Training.

Setting options

Click on Setup, System Options, Training.

Choose which modules to display when making appointments.  This will allow you to display only the training types for your facility.

Resident Training Pricing – When a pet stays for resident training, there will be a charge for X number of boarding days/nights and X number of training days/nights.

Include boarding in the resident training price – This will not charge a Boarding charge for resident training.

With ‘Include boarding’ enabled:  The invoice will only charge for Training.

With ‘Include boarding’ disabled:  The invoice will charge for both Boarding and Training.

Resident training charge – Set whether training should be charged for each day of the appointment or one time overall.

For example, if it is a 10-day boarding stay:

Per boarding night – The invoice will charge for 10 days of boarding and 10 days of training.

Single charge for entire stay – The invoice will charge for 10 days of boarding and 1 day of training.

Appointments

Find the pet in the Client Explorer.  You can search by the pet name, client name, address, phone number, email address.  Click on the pet(s) of the family, click Book and choose the training type:  Train 1-1, Train Class or Resident Training.

One-on-One and Resident

Choose the Training type if these are enabled.

Choose the trainer if applicable.

Choose the start and end times.

Choose Dates

This is a quick way to add appointments on a recur basis.  You might have services that occur 3 times a week or once a week for 3 months, and so on.

Choose the date range.

Choose what day(s) of the week are needed.

Repeat every X days for X time:  This lets you recur the appointment for a set timeline.  You can choose to repeat the appointment every 2 days for 3 months, for example.

Additional dates:  There may be times when you want to make a recurring set of appointments, but you also need to add an additional date or change one of the recurring dates.  In our example, the appointment is to be every Tuesday and Thursday.  However, the client can’t come on Tuesday October 6th and instead wants to come on Monday October 5th.  To adjust this, uncheck 10/6 and check 10/5.

Hit Confirm to save these recurring dates and Save to save the appointment.

Purchase Package

Packages can be purchased through the appointment screen.

Pet Packages – These packages only cover the specific pet.  In this example, we have two pets so a package will need to be purchased for both Jumper and Pickles.

Client packages – These packages cover every pet the client has and you only need to add them to one place.

Choose the package and hit Next.

This will open a new tab for the invoice.  You can pay this invoice now or Save and pay later.

Back on the appointment screen, the package days will load onto the appointment.

You can also sell packages through the pet or client card, Packages.  Hit Add Package, choose the package and save or pay the invoice.

Invoicing

Train One-On-One – These packages are used when the pet checks out.  The invoice will list if a package day was used and will add any other billable service from the appointment.

Resident training – These packages are used when the invoice is created.

Classes – These packages are used when the pet checks out.  The invoice will list if a package day was used and will add any other billable services from the appointment.

Key Points

·        Use the Training schedule to create or modify resident training appointments; the system creates linked training and boarding appointments.

·        Enable the appropriate training modules and, when runs are required, mark eligible runs for Training.

·        Set whether resident-training pricing includes boarding and whether training is charged per boarding night or once for the entire stay.

·        For classes, define capacity, dates, rate, times, instructor, meeting days, completion status, and whether drop-ins are allowed.

·        Only classes that allow drop-ins can use packages; completed classes can no longer be booked.

·        Create training types for one-on-one and resident services, or set Train-O and Train-R rates in Inventory.

·        Choose the correct package service: Train-O for one-on-one, Train-R for resident training, and Train-C for classes.

·        Resident packages may cover training only or both boarding and training, depending on system settings.

·        Use recurring-date options to schedule repeating appointments, then adjust individual dates as needed before confirming.

·        Pet packages apply to one pet; client packages can cover all pets belonging to the client.

·        One-on-one and class packages are applied at checkout, while resident-training packages are applied when the invoice is created.
