Help CenterKennel Connection's AI Engine and Dynamic Pricing Rules allow you to automatically apply additional charges to boarding appointments based on criteria you define. Whether you need to charge different rates for holidays, larger dogs, special handling requirements, or specific boarding services, Pricing Rules help ensure pricing is applied consistently without requiring staff to manually adjust charges. Rules can be configured to apply automatically based on factors such as boarding service, breed, weight, size classification, and more.

To setup the rules, click on Setup, Lists, Pricing Rules.
Step 1: Enter a rule name and description.
Click if you'd like to have this pricing rule show as a separate line the invoice.
Enter a description that will show on the invoice.
Activation date: Choose when this rule will be applied to appointments. You can choose specific dates or always. You can disable when it is no longer to be used.
Step 2: Enter the extra price to be applied for this rule. It can be a dollar amount or percentage amount.
Important Note: Boarding Rules Apply Per Pet, Per Day
Boarding Pricing Rules are applied using the same quantity as the boarding charge. For example, if a pet stays for 5 days and meets the rule criteria, the pricing rule will be applied for all 5 days.
Step 3: Module - Choose which module this rule will apply to - Boarding
Next, choose the other parameter(s) for boarding appointments or pet specifics this rule is to apply to. You can choose specific items or leave set to All.
Choose the Boarding service if you use primary services.
Choose Breed(s).
Choose a Weight - More than, less than, or between weights.
Choose a Size Classification. This is set on the pet card, see below.

If you choose to show the rule as a separate line item on the invoice, it will look like this.
A line item for the boarding service at its price.
A line item for the pricing rule, Special Handling - Giant Dogs, at its price. It will charge the same quantity as the boarding charge.
If you choose to have the rule included in the board price, the invoice will look like this.
Quick Tip: Common Uses for Boarding Pricing Rules
Pricing Rules can be used for a variety of automatic pricing adjustments, including:
- Holiday surcharges
- Peak season pricing
- Large or giant breed handling fees
- Special care or special handling charges
- Breed-specific pricing adjustments
- Weight-based surcharges
- Premium boarding service surcharges
Once configured, the rule will automatically apply whenever an appointment meets the criteria you've defined.
